Stop The Ten Plagues Of Egypt In Rusty Lake Paradise

rustyLakeParadise_header.jpg

In the newest addition to the Rusty Lake point and click series, Rusty Lake Paradise sets up for a new atmospheric and chilling experience. Players will be taken on a dark journey as they must attempt to stop the plagues by uncovering hidden memories and participating in twisted family rituals.

Traveling to Paradise Island after his mother's mysterious passing, Jakob Eilander finds himself in a very eerie situation. Jakob finds the island cursed by the ten plagues of Egypt and, perhaps by coincidence, it all started around the time of his mother's death. Jakob must find his mother's hidden memories to unveil clues about the mysterious circumstances he finds himself in.

As players discover the plagues, the atmosphere of the game will shift. For each plague, players will find themselves experiencing a new set of music and an atmosphere suited to that plague. There is certainly more than enough gruesome imagery to work with when the plagues can range from hails of frogs to water turning to boiling blood.

Get your clicker-finger ready to solve a dark mystery and sink into the depths of Rusty Lake Paradise.

You can purchase Rusty Lake Paradise on Steam here. You can also follow Rusty Lake through their website, Facebook, Twitter or Youtube.

Happy Fifteenth Trogday

It was 15 years ago today, over at Homestar Runner, that Strong Bad email #58 introduced the character of Trogdor the Burninator.

The Homestar Cast

Back in those days, before YouTube was a thing, the now dying and soon to be dead Flash format was all the rage and the whole Homestar Runner site was created in it.  Now you have likely have to activate the Flash plug-in to see any of that and probably cannot see it at all on your mobile device.

But back then, in the dark days before YouTube, Flash was the shit for movies and games on the web.

Fortunately the Homestar team has moved much of their work over to YouTube, including Strong Bad #58.  (They also still produce new content, like the latest entry in the Dangeresque series.)

Now you too will be able to draw a dragon.

In celebration I am wearing my now somewhat aged Trogdor T-shirt today.  Meanwhile the Brothers Chap have converted the Trogdor Flash game over to HTML 5 so you can give that a try.

For those too young or who missed it back in the day, the Homestar Runner Wikipedia entry… or the Homestar Runner Wiki, because the internet will obsess about anything and everything… are there to aid your journey.

And if you are in or around Decatur, Georgia today there is an event to celebrate Trogday.

Keep on burninating!

Jelly Deals roundup: Nintendo Switch bundles, Humble's Winter Sale and more

A note from the editor: Jelly Deals is a deals site launched by our parent company, Gamer Network, with a mission to find the best bargains out there. Look out for the Jelly Deals roundup of reduced-price games and kit every Saturday on Eurogamer.

Well, here we are again. We're already a good way through January, somehow, we've already had our first Nintendo Direct and we've been promised even more remastered editions of games we probably already played. Video games are back, indeed. Don't get me wrong, I am absolutely looking forward to playing through Dark Souls on Switch and I don't have anything against remasters. Who do I talk to about getting Jet Set Radio on Switch, by the way?

Over at Jelly Deals, meanwhile, we've been catching up on a variety of deals and discounts on things that aren't just video games and tech. We've even got a guide to the best Nintendo Switch Micro SD cards, if you're looking to up your storage. That's a thing.

A voice from the past

A couple of years ago my stepfather, Martin, passed away in his sleep. While he had been ill for quite a while, his death was sudden and unexpected. It came as a shock to us all and it meant that I was never able to properly say goodbye.

For years Martin had been suffering from Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), a terrifying, debilitating and incurable illness caused by the degeneration of the nerve cells in his brain. At first the symptoms were mild but by the end they had robbed him of his ability to move unaided. He struggled to talk in anything but a whisper, and even lifting a cup to his mouth to take a drink cost him a huge amount of physical effort and pain. It was a tragic end for a kind, quiet and generous man who didn't deserve any of it.

In the following days we pulled together as a family to sort out everything from the funeral arrangements to registering Martin's death. One task assigned to me during this time was to gather his personal effects from storage in the loft at my mum's house so we could pass them on to his children.
