Every dog has his day and this dog loves to dig. Mix in a few cliffs, monsters, and treasures and you have a recipe for Dig Dog, a roguelike platformer where you play as a plucky pup with an itch to dig and a nose for bones!

In Dig Dog, your ultimate goal is to collect bones - a dog's prized possession - and they don't come easy. In the Bone Hunt mode for Dig Dog, players will find their digging fun interrupted by monsters, spikes, and cliffs. At least with the monsters, you can fling your strong dog-body at them to deal some damage, though, but even so, the developers warn that you will probably die. A lot. Luckily, you have an adorable protagonist to come back to every time.

For those who get an aneurism after dying more than 10 times in a row to a jump, take a break with the more relaxed mode - Free Dig. This mode allows you to dig to your heart's content without the threat of a game over to interrupt your digging.

If you're in the mood for a digging challenge, try Dig Dog and give a dog a bone!

Delightful piano-themed rhythm game Deemo gets 24 free new tracks on Switch

Supremely lovely Switch rhythm game Deemo has just been updated with 24 free new songs and controller support.

Deemo is another stellar rhythm action game from developer Rayark, the music game specialists responsible for the wonderful Voez. Where Voez is all Asian pop stompers and electrifying visualisations though, Deemo is a more subdued affair.

Deemo's song roster, which featured over 200 tracks at launch, is entirely piano lead, given the game it's own distinct flavour; its understated delights are ably supported by some wonderfully delicate artwork and the surprisingly touching story of a young girl struggling to return home after she tumbles into the titular Deemo's world.

Hot Wheels to Release Smartphone Controlled 'Rocket League' RC Car Set this Holiday for $180

Who would have thought that Psyonix, the people who released the awesome Star Fox-esque on-rails shooter ARC Squadron on iOS more than five years ago, would go on to create one of the most popular multiplayer games in the world. Yes Rocket League, the giant-soccer-played-with-cars game which feels like it's on every single platform BUT mobile, is a bonafide smash hit. Now Psyonix is looking to build off their partnership with Mattel and their Hot Wheels brand that saw Hot Wheels cars and cosmetic items added into the game early last year. This time around they're bringing things out of the digital world and into the real world with a Rocket League branded RC car set and play arena. Here's a mockup of what that might look like.

So if Rocket League isn't on mobile why am I talking about this here? Because those little RC cars will be controlled via Bluetooth using your smartphone or tablet. The set will include a little charging base for charging each vehicle as well as a ball equipped with IR sensors so it can keep track of the score whenever it's knocked into one of the goals. Honestly I just want the cars to drive around with using my iPhone, but mimicking the arena of Rocket League is pretty cool too. It's not going to come cheap though, as the set, which is officially called the Hot Wheels Rocket League RC Rivals Set, will cost $179.99 when it arrives this holiday season. In addition, the set will include codes for downloading special in-game items in Rocket League, so that's some added value I guess?

The set will be shown off this weekend during the New York Toy Fair 2018 so I'm hoping to see what the actual cars are like in action. What do you think, too rich for your blood? Or do you love Rocket League enough that you've gotta have it no matter the price?

Stardew Valley creator says new multiplayer features are "done", still hopeful of spring beta

Stardew Valley creator Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone has offered another update on the massively popular farming sim's long-awaited multiplayer mode.

According to Barone, work is now "done" on the features planned to be released as part of Stardew Valley's major 1.3 update - that is, the new single-player story content, and the various elements of the highly anticipated co-operative multiplayer mode.

That's certainly exciting news for Stardew Valley fans, but Barone stresses that there's still plenty to be done before the update is ready for its public debut. As of right now, all new text for the game is being translated into various languages, and bug fixing continues apace.

Valve overhauls Steam wishlists with new filters and sorting options for greater user control

Valve has overhauled Steam's wishlist feature, introducing new filters and sorting options designed to make it easier for users to keep track of the games they're most interested in.

The new wishlist changes, as detailed in Valve's latest blog, are surprisingly comprehensive, and based on Steam users' most requested features. There are a lot of genuinely handy additions too, particularly if you're the kind of person who frequently finds themselves poring over a seemingly endless wishlist whenever you have the compulsion to buy something new.

For instance, you now have the ability to filter your wishlist by genre, meaning that you can more easily whittle down your options when you're in the mood to play a specific kind of game. You simply need to click one of the tags displayed next to a game to hide titles that don't share that tag. Additionally - and this one's particularly pertinent given that Steam has just launched its Lunar New Year Sale - you can also filter your wishlist based on discounts.

Heavy Story-Driven Exploration Game 'Keep in Mind: Remastered' Coming to iOS, Android, and Steam March 8th

While video games are typically lighthearted, fun escapes from reality, sometimes games can attempt to tackle more serious issues and serve to make players think and reflect on something rather than escape it. This has been even more common in the past few years with the openness of digital marketplaces and the explosion of the indie developer scene. One such game that tackles some tough issues, specifically alcoholism and mental illness, is called Keep in Mind from Little Moth Games. The story follows Jonas, who suffers from alcholism and mental illnesses like depression and grief, as he awakes one night in a strange alternate version of his world and must go on to face the darkest demons of his psyche. Here's the latest trailer.

Keep in Mind originally released back in 2016 as a browser game, but Little Moth has partnered up with Akupara Games to re-release the game as Keep in Mind: Remastered on iOS, Android, and Steam on March 8th. The game is most certainly not a long experience, and can be completed in a half hour or so, but the hope is that the impact of the characters and story will help players deal with their own issues, or at least open their eyes to them. One very cool thing about this new release is that the developers will be donating all the game's profits to the Child's Play Charity. While it's maybe not as "fun" playing games that deal with these serious issues, I'm glad that the medium of video games can branch out into these areas and create awareness and even help people cope through their own problems. If Keep in Mind: Remastered looks interesting to you, then check it out when it launches on March 8th.

Fe review - uneven indie from EA Originals

"If only we could talk to the monsters," laments an infamous Edge review from many moons ago. In Fe you don't just get to talk to the monsters - you get to sing to them, or at least, croak and wail tunefully, like a sheepdog trying to nail the backing vocals to Bohemian Rhapsody. An "EA Original" from Swedish developer Zoink - otherwise known for such comicbook fare as Zombie Vikings: Stab-a-thon - Fe is the story of a nimble fox creature on a mission to save a vivid dreamland from a legion of strange armoured figures, who are capturing and processing the wildlife to unknown end.

It's a game about healing rifts between lifeforms, about symbiosis and diversity versus entrapment and exploitation, and integral to all that is the singing mechanic. As in a Metroidvania, you'll need to obtain certain abilities to push deeper into Fe's persistent, multiple-region map, which extends from glowering lava caves and sherbet yellow swamps to chilly blue mountain-tops. Some of these abilities are bog-standard incremental power-ups, acquired by collecting purple crystals, but the majority take the form of animal calls and chants, used to woo the realm's critters and flora into doing your bidding.

If you know a creature's language, you can hold right trigger to sing with it, increasing or reducing pressure to change pitch. Harmonise with the other animal for a few seconds - as indicated by a glowing waveform between mouths, which creates the unnerving impression that you're tongue-wrestling it into submission - and it will consent to follow you around and help you overcome any obstacles nearby. Birds will illuminate the route to your current objective, their wingtips scribbling golden paths in the air like the scoutflies of Monster Hunter World. Boars will clear away clogs of blue fungus, or carry you up slippery hills of ice. Stags will flatten any hostiles you lure into their territory.

These New 'Witcheye' Gifs are Getting Me Pretty Excited

Back at the beginning of December we posted about a very cool upcoming game called Witcheye from indie developer Peter Malamud Smith which was sort of a throwback NES-style platformer about a witch who could transform into a flying eyeball. You know, normal stuff. While Smith had previously released the clever puzzle/avoidance game Sattelina [$1.99] and its spinoff Satellina Zero [Free] on iOS, he was also part of the team that created the very well-received "lost" NES game The Great Gatsby back in 2011, which you can play in Flash in your browser. The Great Gatsby felt about as authentic of an NES game as you could get without having it actually be from the NES era, and that's relevant to this discussion as Witcheye is going for that same authentic feel. We hadn't really heard much about Witcheye since that original post, but responding to a progress update query Smith swooped into our upcoming forums like a flying eyeball and posted many new animated gifs of Witcheye in action. Enjoy!

That's just a few examples of the latest look at Witcheye, and you can see many more as well as about a dozen of the original gifs from December if you drop on by the game's forum thread. The game is looking so good I just want to post ALL THE GIFS all in a row right here and now, but I'd feel bad for crashing everyone's browsers. Unfortunately Witcheye doesn't have a firm release date beyond some point in 2018, but maybe if we all ask real nicely and post our enthusiasm for the game in the forum thread that will light a fire under our dear Peter Malamud Smith's behind and get this thing finished up sooner rather than later.
